T-charts are graphic organizers that can help students examine two facets of a topic (such as pros and cons) or sort words/ideas into two categories.
For instance, to examine two facets of a topic, a T-chart could be used to list the advantages and disadvantages of walking to school. On one side of the T-chart would be "Advantages of Walking to School." On the other side of the T-chart would be "Disadvantages of Walking to School". Then, students would make corresponding lists on each side of the T-chart.
On the other hand, a T-chart can be used to sort words/ideas into two categories by sorting foods which are healthy and unhealthy. Healthy foods would be listed on one side of the T-chart, while unhealthy foods would be listed on the other side of the T-chart.
